Maryland women’s soccer took a lead into the 75th minute of action on Sunday against George Washington, but ultimately left Washington, D.C., with a 1-1 draw.
The Terrapins broke through in the 50th minute, when Mikayla Dayes beat the Colonials defense for her team-leading third goal of the season. The junior midfielder had just three scores in her career entering 2019, but she’s off to a blistering start thus far.
The rest of the Terps attack had its chances all afternoon, registering 16 shots, eight of which were on goal. However, it couldn’t beat George Washington keeper Tamaki Machi, and those missed opportunities would cost Maryland.
