Former Maryland women’s basketball star Brionna Jones was named the Associated Press Most Improved Player in the WNBA on Wednesday.
In her fifth season with the Connecticut Sun, Jones is averaging a career-high 14.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting 57.1 percent from the field this year. Last month, she dominated with four double-doubles and was named the Eastern Conference Player of the week.
The Aberdeen, Maryland native made her mark as a Terp by leading the country in field goal percentage in both her junior and senior seasons. She earned numerous titles while in college such as Big Ten Player of the Week and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-American honors.
