After a pair of strong performances over the previous week, former Maryland women’s basketball forward Alyssa Thomas was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday for the final week of August.
The Terps’ all-time leading scorer averaged 17.5 points, 10 rebounds, 5.5 assists and two steals per game for the Connecticut Sun, becoming the second member of her team to be named conference player of the week this season. It also marks the third time Thomas has been awarded conference player of the week, with this week’s honor being her first since the 2017 season.
