Former Maryland women’s basketball star Kristi Toliver was hired by the Dallas Mavericks as an assistant coach, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Toliver currently plays in the WNBA with the Los Angeles Sparks. The former Terp has won two championships in the WNBA and she also spent parts of two seasons with the Washington Wizards coaching staff.
This coaching gig will not impact her playing career in the WNBA, according to Wojnarowski.
Toliver played for the Terps from 2005-09 before she was drafted third overall in the 2009 WNBA Draft. Toliver played a key role on Maryland’s 2006 national championship team, where she hit the game-tying three-pointer with just seconds to go to force overtime in the championship game against Duke.
