Last season, attacker Matt Rambo led the Terp-filled Whipsnakes to the Premier Lacrosse League’s first ever championship. On Sunday, fellow former Terp Kyle Bernlohr’s clutch play in goal helped the team win its second straight title.
The Whipsnakes defeated the Chaos, 12-6, in the championship of the league’s tournament in Utah behind Bernlohr’s 16 saves. He swatted away 73 percent of the shots that came his way, didn’t allow a single two-point score and saved every shot he faced in the second half.
Former Maryland men’s lacrosse players Tim Muller, Michael Ehrhardt, Bryce Young, Jake Bernhardt and Matthew Dunn led the team on defense, combining for five caused turnovers and nine ground balls — five of which came from Ehrhardt.
