Maryland men’s basketball reached out to forward Ben Stanley shortly after he announced he would be transferring from Hampton University Tuesday, Stadium’s Jeff Goodman reported.
The 6’6, 225 pound, forward averaged 22 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game as a redshirt sophomore for the Pirates last season. He also shot 57.4 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent from deep.
Goodman reported that Georgetown, Missouri and Xavier have all reached out, but Maryland should have an edge given that Stanley is a Baltimore native. He played his first two years of high school at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, one year at Baltimore City College and then reclassified to spend his last two seasons at Milwood School in Virginia.
