Former Maryland women’s basketball player Brionna Jones has been named the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
In two Connecticut Sun wins last week, Jones averaged 20.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. Last Thursday, she notched a career-high 34 points and seven rebounds in a win over the Indiana Fever. That performance tied the franchise record for points scored in regulation.
The fifth-year player is off to a stellar start this season. Through 18 games, she has increased her scoring average by over four points per game from last season.
