Former Maryland basketball center Diamond Stone looked like his old self on the floor of the Nationwide Arena in Columbus on Sunday afternoon, scoring 19 points in his debut game for Sideline Cancer in the 2020 installment of The Basketball Tournament.
Stone, who spent the 2019-20 season with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the G-League, started for Sideline Cancer and scored his 19 points in 26 minutes on 8-of-17 shooting from the field. He also showed a willingness to pull the trigger from beyond the arc, shooting 3-of-10 from three-point range on the day.
Stone and Sideline Cancer are set to play Challenge ALS in The Tournament’s Super 16 on July 8, though his status for Wednesday’s game could be in jeopardy due to an injury he suffered Sunday’s that prevented him from finishing the game.
