Former Maryland field hockey defender Nike Lorenz has excelled for Germany women’s field hockey at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Lorenz, who has captained both of Germany’s games thus far, helped her country to a 2-0 record in Pool A. The defender and the rest of her team have allowed just one goal over the nation’s two-game winning streak. Lorenz also chipped in with a goal off a penalty corner in Germany’s 2-0 win against India Monday.
Before beating India in the shutout win, Germany opened play with a 2-1 victory against Great Britain on Sunday.
The former Terp is just 24-years-old and she’s in her second Olympics with Germany.
