Maryland football quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa was named to the Maxwell Award Watch List on Monday. The award is given to the top college football player in the country at the end of the season.
Tagovailoa is entering his junior season with the Terps and had an inconsistent first-year campaign in an abbreviated 2020 season but had noteworthy performances that showed the Big Ten, and country, what he is capable of.
In just four games, Tagovailoa threw for over 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns. He led the Big Ten in yards per completion with 13.48, was second in passing efficiency and third in passing yards per game.
