Former Maryland track and field star Chioma Onyekwere who graduated in 2016 will compete at the Tokyo Olympics in the discus throw this summer.
After graduating from Maryland with her BA in Mechanical Engineering, Onyekwere went on to pursue her professional track and field career while working as an engineer.
As a Terp, she set the second-highest discus throw score, 178-07, and earned All-American honors as well as All-Big Ten honors. Following her collegiate career, Onyekwere earned first place in discus during the All-African Games in 2019 as well as the African Championships in 2018.
To qualify for Tokyo, Onyekwere threw 62.
