Maryland baseball’s freshman pitcher Jason Savacool and senior catcher Justin Vought were named to the Big Ten Team of the Week.
This is Savacool’s third Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor after earning a conference-high sixth win of the season with a record of 6-1. Savacool’s two prior honors were after complete-game wins against Michigan State and Penn State.
Savacool has pitched beyond eight innings in three games this year and has pitched a Maryland-high 57.1 innings.
Vought went 4-for-5 at the plate against Illinois this Saturday, scoring a school record-tying three home runs and four RBIs.
