Despite posting a 1-15 record in the regular season, No. 13 seed Maryland women’s tennis has caught fire in the Big Ten tournament with victories in the first two rounds.
On Wednesday, the Terps took down No. 12 seed Rutgers, 4-2, to give the team a spark kicking off the conference tournament weekend. Thursday evening, Maryland took an even bigger step, defeating No. 5 seed Nebraska, 4-3.
Maryland opened the evening with a win of the doubles portion of the match, grasping a key point with a tiebreaker victory. Winning the doubles point was also a key catalyst for the team in Wednesday’s win over Rutgers.
