Maryland women’s basketball sophomore guards Diamond Miller and Ashley Owusu have accepted invitations to attend the USA Basketball Women’s AmeriCup Team trials April 18-21 at the University of South Carolina, according to a press release.
The two Terps are part of a 20-player pool of returning college athletes that will compete for 12 spots to represent the United States on the national stage. While Owusu has yet to compete for USA Basketball, Miller has earned gold medals during the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup and 2017 FIBA Americas U16 Championship.
After head coach Brenda Frese lost all five starters due to graduation and the transfer portal, Miller and Owusu stepped into leadership roles in their second season as Terps.
