Maryland women’s basketball head coach Brenda Frese has been named women’s basketball Coach of the Year by The Athletic.
Earlier this season, Frese was named ESPN’s National Coach of the Year. Sophomore guard Ashley Owusu was also named to The Athletic’s All-American Third Team.
Despite losing all five starters from last year’s Big Ten Championship team, Frese led the Terps to their sixth Big Ten title in seven years. Last month, Frese became the winningest coach in Maryland basketball history, when she won her 500th game as the head coach of the Terps.
