Prior to Maryland men’s basketball’s 67-53 loss to No. 1 Purdue, Terps guard Jahmir Young was named Big Ten Player of the Week for the weeks of Dec. 18-Jan. 1. He became the first Maryland player to win the award since Anthony Cowan Jr. garnered the honor in Feb. 2020.
In Maryland’s 73-67 win over Nicholls on Dec. 19, Young produced 23 points and 11 rebounds. He also went a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line to help the Terps stave off the Colonels.
Young then followed up his first double-double of the season with a career performance on the road against UCLA.
