MM 12.9: Maryland wrestling turns out successful weekend at George Mason Patriot Open

Maryland wrestling saw four of its players finish in the top five — with Jaxon Smith winning the 184-pound title — at the George Mason Patriot Open.

Twenty-two Terps competed overall, with Smith earning three wins overall and two over ranked opponents. Chase Mielnik and Dario Lemus also made championship appearances for Maryland, but both were defeated.

Kal Miller and Mekhi Neal battled their way back from the backside of the bracket to finish in fifth place.
