MM 12.21: Maryland football declines bowl invite, ends 2020 season

Maryland football will not accept a bowl invitation amid the program’s pause in team activities, a team spokesperson told Testudo Times Sunday.

Maryland joins Michigan State, Minnesota and Nebraska as the Big Ten schools that will be declining bowl invitations. In the conference, No. 3 Ohio State, No. 11 Indiana, No. 14 Northwestern, No. 15 Iowa and Wisconsin were selected for bowl competition.

Twelve bowl games — including the Pinstripe Bowl (Big Ten-ACC), Quick Lane Bowl (Big Ten, ACC, MAC), Guaranteed Rate Bowl (Big Ten-Pac-12) and Redbox Bowl (Big Ten-Pac-12) — have already been canceled due to COVID-19, financial, venue and sponsorship issues.
