Maryland men’s soccer defender Matt Di Rosa was selected by Toronto FC with the No. 25 overall pick in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft Thursday. Shortly after, his twin brother, Ben, was selected by New York City FC with the 17th pick of the second round.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the two will have the option to return to Maryland for their senior season this spring. That decision will have to be made before Feb. 19, when the college season starts.
The Di Rosas head to the MLS after three seasons at Maryland, including the Terrapins’ 2018 national championship.
