MM 1.18: Maryland gymnastics wins opener at No. 25 Penn State

Maryland gymnastics had its first competition of the 2020 season on Sunday, posting 194.875 points in a win over No. 25 Penn State.

After senior Audrey Barber and sophomore Emma Silberman each picked up 9.85 points on the uneven bars, Maryland couldn’t keep its consistency and struggled the rest of the first apparatus. But that all began to change in the second — sophomore Reese McClure kicked it off with a 9.85-point performance on the vault.

“We haven’t competed over 300 days. Once we got that first rotation out of the way they really kind of turned into themselves,” head coach Brett Nelligan said.
