No. 22 Maryland wrestling suffered its first dual loss of the season Monday when it fell at home to No. 18 Pittsburgh, 21-16.

Despite a technical fall loss in the 125-pound bout, Maryland (1-1) took the lead when Braxton Brown and Kal Miller defeated ranked opponents at 133 and 141 pounds, respectively.

Miller’s victory, which came by major decision, was Maryland’s highlight of the night. His opponent, Cole Matthews, was an All-American last year and was ranked No. 7 entering the event.

After wins by Ethen Miller and Michael North, Maryland lost three straight bouts, giving the Panthers (4-1) a lead they wouldn’t surrender.
