Following No. 22 Maryland men’s soccer’s wins over then-No. 6 Indiana and then-No. 24 Yale, Terp defender Johannes Bergmann collected not one, but two conference honors.
Bergmann was named both the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday.
The senior captain is the first player in the Big Ten since at least 2010 to collect both defensive and offensive weekly honors. Bergmann is also the first Terp this season to receive the offensive accolade, which he shares with Penn State midfielder Aaron Molloy.
Bergmann earned the recognition after managing the backline, which captured shutouts against the Hoosiers and the Bulldogs, and tallying his first two career goals in each matchup, including the overtime game-winning goal on Friday against the Hoosiers.
