As a freshman in 2013, Mike Minter watched Maryland's season opener against Florida International from the student section.
Although technically a member of the Maryland football program, Minter was an injured non-scholarship player and because of NCAA rules was not allowed on the home team's sideline.
Last Saturday, Minter started for Maryland in the season opener versus Richmond. Running out of the locker room onto Capital One Field prior to kickoff, Minter was overwhelmed by how far he had come.
"I thought to myself, it was just two years ago that I was sitting up there," said Minter, mimicking how he pointed toward the Byrd Stadium stands.
