Minnesota Timberwolves waive former Maryland guard Melo Trimble

The Minnesota Timberwolves waived former Maryland point guard Melo Trimble on Saturday afternoon, the team announced.

After starting his NBA career in the summer league with the Philadelphia 76ers, Trimble originally signed with the Timberwolves on Sept. 18. In his one preseason appearance for Minnesota, Trimble scored four points and pulled in one rebound.

The Timberwolves added veteran guard Aaron Brooks ahead of the preseason on Sept. 21, which seemed to spell the end for Trimble, an inexperienced rookie at the same position.

Now that he’s been waived, he’s likely headed for a season in the G-League, something he said he had no problem with when he declared for the draft in March.
