Maryland faces Minnesota for the third consecutive season Saturday. It’s been a series heavy on backup quarterbacks.
Tyrrell Pigrome made his first career start for the Terps in 2016, while Max Bortenschlager became the third Maryland starting QB to win a game last September. Minnesota started Conor Rhoda in both matchups, but he was an emergency fill-in for Mitch Leidner in the first meeting.
This weekend, it looks like that trend will change. Maryland is sticking with Kasim Hill under center, and although Gophers starter Zack Annexstad was shaken up early in the game against Miami (OH), he returned one play later and was taken out in the third quarter with a somewhat comfortable Minnesota lead.
