For long stretches in both halves of Saturday’s game against Maryland-Eastern Shore at Xfinity Center, the No. 6 Maryland men’s basketball team looked bored and distracted. For shorter bursts, the Terps looked they were focused and having fun.
Fortunately for Maryland, it was playing a UMES team that has played only two games at home this season and were in the fifth game of seven-game road trip, coming off a 43-point loss at top-ranked Michigan State on Wednesday.
While watching what had been a 14-point lead in the first half become six at halftime, and then seeing a 23-point lead midway through the second half reduced to 16, Maryland’s talent prevailed, 77-56, before an announced – the key word being announced -sellout of 17,950.
