Maryland's Taylor Cummings is Big 10 Female Athlete of the Year

Maryland's Taylor Cummings (McDonogh) has been named the Big Ten's Female Athlete of the Year, the conference announced today.

In the Terps' inaugural Big Ten season, and the conference’s first season sponsoring lacrosse, Cummings is the first Maryland athlete to be honored as Female Athlete of the Year. She repeated as the Tewaaraton and Honda Award recipient earlier in the month and became a three-time first team All-American.

She is also a two-time Baltimore Sun Girls Athlete of the Year (2011 and 2012).

“I’m incredibly humbled to be the first-ever recipient of this award in Maryland’s inaugural season in the Big Ten Conference,” the junior said in a statement.
