Roman Braglio’s football career hit a low point a few weeks ago, when he fell ill with mononucleosis following Maryland’s 28-0 loss to Michigan. Braglio, a junior defensive end who has earned a starting role largely because of his relentless work ethic, was in bed for the next five days. He went to the hospital and was told his spleen was swollen. As Maryland struggled, facing a crisis both on and off the field before traveling to Ohio State that week, Braglio was powerless to help. He retreated to his father’s home in Howard County that Saturday, to watch the Terrapins lose, 49-28.
