Maryland’s Justin Jackson withdraws from NBA draft, will return for sophomore season

Maryland forward Justin Jackson has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will return for his sophomore season, the school announced on Wednesday.

Jackson’s decision, which came hours before Wednesday’s deadline for underclassmen without agents to pull out of the draft, stabilizes a young and talented Maryland roster and will give the 20-year-old Ontario native another year to polish his professional stock.

“We are excited Justin is returning for his sophomore season,” Maryland Coach Mark Turgeon said in a statement. “Justin had a great opportunity to attend the NBA Combine and gather information regarding his future as a professional basketball player.
