Maryland guard Dion Wiley had received a sturdy applause from the Xfinity Center faithful when he checked into Tuesday’s win over Rutgers, which marked the redshirt sophomore’s first action in four games. A lingering back injury seemed to be improving by that point, and although Wiley played just two minutes in the second half, Terrapins Coach Mark Turgeon sounded encouraged that Wiley would reassert himself as part of the rotation for the final 11 games of the regular season.
But the back issue flared up again this week, perplexing Turgeon and forcing Wiley back to the sideline. He missed practice on both Thursday and Friday, and won’t travel with the team for Saturday’s game at Minnesota.
