Maryland’s Diamond Stone, Melo Trimble will declare for NBA draft; Trimble won’t hire agent

Maryland freshman center Diamond Stone and sophomore point guard Melo Trimble will declare for the NBA draft, the school announced on Monday evening. Stone will hire an agent, thus ending his one-year run in College Park, while Trimble will hold off on hiring representation while he tests the draft waters over the next month.

While the move comes as expected for both, Trimble could still potentially return to school in May. The NCAA earlier this year introduced a new rule that allows players to test the draft process — which includes one workout with each NBA team as well as participating in the league’s draft combine in May — but still preserve their amateurism by not hiring an agent.
