After a breakout freshman campaign, Maryland wide receiver Jeshaun Jones will miss the 2019 season after tearing his ACL in training camp, the team announced Tuesday.
Jones was expected to be the Terps’ top option at wide receiver this season. He posted 22 receptions, 288 yards and a team-high five receiving touchdowns last season. He burst onto the scene against Texas, scoring a rushing, passing and receiving touchdown on his first three college touches.
This leaves Maryland without one of its top offensive playmakers, although the Terps still have options at receiver. Fellow 2018 recruits Dontay Demus, Darryl Jones and Brian Cobbs showed promise late last season, while senior DJ Turner and junior transfer Sean Savoy should occupy the slot.
