After finishing second in the Big Ten championships last season, Maryland women’s golf couldn’t finish as strong this season, coming in eighth in a rain-soaked weekend in Maineville, Ohio.
The Terps were in eighth place after Friday’s opening round, and after Saturday’s round was canceled due to poor conditions, they remained in that position Sunday despite scoring 14 strokes lower. Maryland’s 288 Sunday score was even par, but it was only tied for the eighth-lowest score in the 14 team field.
Sophomore Virunpat Olankitkunchai led the Terps with a fifth-place finish, and was named to the all-championship team.
