The Maryland women’s basketball team took home several Big Ten individual honors Monday.
Taylor Mikesell was named Freshman of the Year by the coaches and Brenda Frese was selected Coach of the Year by both the coaches and media, the conference announced.
Mikesell has hit a freshman program-record 86 3-pointers this season, the most by any freshman in the country. Mikesell, who averages 13.9 points and 3.1 3-pointers made per game, is Maryland's second Big Ten Freshman of the Year, joining Destiny Slocum, who won in the honor in 2016 before transferring to Oregon State.
