The Maryland women’s basketball team is 9-0 after routing in-state foe Loyola, 97-47, on Tuesday night.
Once again, it was clear for every second that the Terps were bigger, faster, stronger, and more athletic than their mid-major counterparts. In the words of music producer/philosopher DJ Khaled, "another one."
Maryland opened up a 22-12 lead after the first quarter. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored 8 points and the team was 9-of-14 from the field, but it was the Terps’ tight defense that stood out in the opening period, forcing 6 Loyola turnovers (3 of which were shot-clock violations). Two Greyhound three-pointers at the start of the second quarter slashed the lead to 22-18, but Loyola never got that close again.
