The first two weeks of this season have been peppered with milestones for the Maryland women’s basketball team, but not the kind it wanted.
The Terrapins gave up 114 points in a Nov. 12 loss to then-No. 6 South Carolina, the most the program has allowed under Coach Brenda Frese. Then they managed to score just 48 points while falling four days later to then-No. 8 Connecticut, their lowest total since Dec. 3, 2012. The third notation came Monday, when Maryland fell out of the Associated Press top 25 poll for the first time since the start of the 2010-11 season, a stretch of 251 weeks that trailed only those Huskies among active streaks.
