Maryland women’s basketball continued to cruise through its non-conference schedule Tuesday with a 97-63 win over Towson.
Brionna Jones and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough led No. 4 Maryland with 19 points each, and Kristen Confroy added 11.
Both teams shot about the same from the field, with Maryland shooting 49 percent and Towson shooting 43 percent respectively. Maryland went 7-of-20 on three-pointers, while Towson went just 1-for-9.
But the difference was turnovers. The Tigers turned the ball over 21 times, and the Terps scored 28 points off those giveaways.
Maryland had to work 23 seconds off the clock before a Brionna Jones layup opened the scoring, but the first quarter was relatively easy after that, as the Terps led 22-10 at the end of the period.
