MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota guard Mara Braun pounded the basketball well beyond the three-point line, looking for a way to create some offense as Shyanne Sellers swarmed. No room to pass inside, no open teammates on the periphery. Maryland defenders were seemingly everywhere. As the shot clock neared zero, Sellers and teammate Lavender Briggs crowded Braun, who got off an air ball as the clock expired.
The Terrapins made it that kind of night for the Golden Gophers, whose offensive production couldn’t match the visitors’ defensive intensity in a 72-64 Maryland win at Williams Arena. Maryland is 14-1 all-time against Minnesota, including seven straight wins.
