Lavender Briggs has played her last collegiate basketball game. The Maryland graduate senior is done for the season after going down with a knee injury against Rutgers on Wednesday, concluding her amateur career.
“We’re heartbroken as a team,” Terrapins Coach Brenda Frese said Friday after confirming the severity of the injury. “There’s been a lot of emotions through this. The state of shock from when it first happened. But she’s got a ton of support and she’s in great hands with our doctors and our rehab team.”
Briggs, a 6-foot-1 guard, was in the midst of her best season in College Park, averaging 8.
