Maryland women advance to NCAA second round with 74-58 win over Iona

No. 15 seed Iona gave the Maryland women’s basketball team a tense afternoon in the opening round of the NCAA tournament, but the Terps used a balanced attack to pull away for a 74-58 win on their home court.

Junior guard Shatori Walker-Kimbrough led five Maryland players in double figures with 19 points and senior point guard Brene Moseley sparked the No. 2 seed with 15 points off the bench.

With the win, Maryland (31-3) earned the right to host No. 7 seed Washington or No. 10 seed Penn on Monday at the Xfinity Center.
