With some merit, Maryland men’s basketball coach Mark Turgeon attributed his team’s late-season slide to a difficult road schedule that included trips to Indiana and Purdue the past two weekends.
The Terps, who slid from No. 2 to No. 18 in a stretch that produced four defeats in their last six games, might have received a bit of a break here Thursday night when No. 11 seed Nebraska upset No. 6 seed Wisconsin, 70-58, in the opening round of the Big Ten tournament.
As a result, third-seeded Maryland (24-7) will play the Cornhuskers, who beat Rutgers in the play-in game Wednesday, in the quarterfinals Friday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
