Down 2-0 in the match, the No. 14 Penn State Nittany Lions were not only on the brink of Maryland upsetting them but sweeping them as well. Only up 11-10 in the third set, Penn State needed to secure a comfortable lead to remain alive, and they did just that.
Senior outside hitter Adanna Rollins delivered a monstrous kill to the Terps, starting a 6-1 run that would eventually win them the set. This run was critical as the Terps pulled the set within two late, which would have won them the match. However, Maryland could not respond to the Nittany Lions’ run as they went on to win the third set as well as the next two to secure the victory.
