It was a successful weekend for Maryland track and field, as five Terps qualified for the NCAA Championships during this weekend’s NCAA East regional at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.
Junior Mikella Lefebvre-Oatis started off day one clearing the mark needed to qualify for the NCAA Championships, jumping 1.75 meters for her third-highest mark of the season. Senior Jewel Smith punched her ticket later in the day, jumping 6.06 meters to clinch her second straight appearance at nationals.
Senior Greg Thompson clinched his spot on day two, finishing fourth in the discus throw preliminaries. Thompson became Maryland’s first male Big Ten champion earlier this year, and his season-best of 65.
