Maryland softball got its first win of the season Saturday after a shocking upset over top-ranked Florida. The Terps overall went 1-3 in the tournament making their record 1-8.
Hannah Dewey and Madison Martin were the stars in the circle as they stepped up from a disappointing start to the season last weekend. Martin is also having a great season at the plate, hitting .571. Maryland is still in a tough spot at 1-8, but perhaps the team could use the big win to create momentum for the rest of the season.
Despite the team’s struggles, the young players on the team are starting to show some flashes, most notably freshman Anna Kufta, who hit her third home run of the season.
