The third-seeded Maryland men’s soccer team won its second consecutive Big Ten Conference tournament championship Sunday after defeating host and top-seeded Ohio State, 2-0.
With the win over the No. 12 Buckeyes (13-6-2), the Terps (10-5-5) earned the league’s automatic NCAA tournament berth.
Freshman Eryk Williamson scored in the 10th minute after junior Ivan Magalhaes’ header caromed off the crossbar, and senior Tsubasa Endoh secured the win with a goal in the 88th minute after Williamson’s shot was saved and pushed into his path inside the penalty box.
Endoh and junior Cody Niedermeier (Broadneck) were named the offensive and defensive players of the tournament, respectively.
