Maryland receives commitment from New York guard Kevin Huerter

Maryland added a second crucial piece to its 2016 recruiting class on Monday, picking up a verbal commitment from New York guard Kevin Huerter.

The pledge from Huerter comes on the heels of his official visit to Maryland this past weekend. Huerter initially had visits to Notre Dame and Michigan lined up, but informed Maryland’s staff of his decision to join the program Monday. He joins St. John’s point guard Anthony Cowan as the second commitment in the Terrapins’ class of 2016.

Maryland’s pursuit of Huerter began last winter, with assistant Dustin Clark taking the lead on luring the versatile 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard to College Park.
