Maryland has suspended freshman quarterback Gage Shaffer for the final two games of the season for violating the student-athlete code of conduct, the school announced Wednesday.
Shaffer is the second Terrapins player to be suspended this week. Junior running back Wes Brown was suspended indefinitely on Monday, two days after he made his first start of the season against Michigan State.
The 6-foot-7, 205-pound Shaffer hasn’t appeared in any games this season for Maryland (2-8), which has lost seven consecutive games and will close out the 2015 schedule against Indiana and Rutgers the next two weeks.
