Maryland added another promising piece to its 2016 recruiting class on Friday, picking up a commitment from Archbishop Carroll offensive lineman Richard Merritt.
The 6-foot-5, 340-pound Merritt is considered a consensus four-star recruit and is rated as the second-best player in the District by Rivals. He becomes the first pledge to new Maryland Coach DJ Durkin, after announcing his decision via Twitter Friday. He committed to the Terrapins over a long list of suitors, including Alabama, Auburn and Florida.
