Maryland offensive tackle Jordan McNair died Wednesday, the university has announced. He was 19.
McNair collapsed during a team workout on May 29 and received a liver transplant at UMD Medical Center. He had been in critical condition since. Tweets from Maryland players trickled out Wednesday afternoon before an official announcement was made.
The former four-star recruit out of McDonogh School in Baltimore committed to the Terps in summer 2016 and signed his letter of intent in February 2017. He made his college debut in Maryland’s win over Towson in September, but didn’t return to the field last fall.
