Maryland OL coach Tyler Bowen leaves for Penn State

After just one season as Maryland’s offensive line coach, Tyler Bowen has left for Penn State. He’ll be the Nittany Lions’ tight ends coach.

Bowen joined the Terps in February, as former offensive line coach Dave Borbely accepted an off-field role. The former Maryland lineman had previously coached at FCS power Fordham, and had graduate assistant stints at both Maryland and Penn State. Now he’s back in State College.

Players spoke reverently about Bowen, who along with new defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh was working to build Maryland up in the trenches. Some Maryland fans expected Bowen to stay with the Terps for a while and perhaps hold a coordinator position down the road.
